Fawns are often killed by black bears in the Spring. Right after birth, fawns know instinctively to lay perfectly still. They have almost no smell. If the fawn doesn't move a muscle and the bear is up wind it may not see the little deer.
Watercolor is bright, dynamic and full of surprises. Pen and ink has clean lines and hard contrasts. These are my favorite mediums. My experience as an artist has been a long journey, and what a joy it's been. I spend my days surrounded by a natural world that inspires to be turned into art. I'm a Californian, a forester and an artist. My desk is the hood of my truck and forest is my office. I'm simply a dirt forester and an uncultivated artist.

Thank you so much Sabina! That's very kind of you.

I hope the bear was not as close as you painted it here because I would not want the fawn to be ....whatever. This is really really beautiful, Timothy. You have a wonderful heartwarming gallery.
Conni Schaftenaar
Oh, my, to look at the cute fawn and then realize there's a black bear paw right next to the poor little one is heart-stopping! Just voted for this and several of yours in the Drawings of Animal contest, L/F, sharing on FB, Twitter and Pinterest

Wow Conni, thank you so much! I’m so glad you like them. That was so kind of you to give me all that support.
